Hakoniemi cottages are located next to lake Piittisjärvi which is about 5 km long and 500 meters wide. You can fish in this lake. Naturally there are lots of opportunities for camping and picking different berries.

The cottages are located within walking distance from each other and your nearest neighbour is about 500 meters away. You are surrounded bt countryside and wilderness, so if you want to experience the quietness and the peace of nature, then these cottages are ideal for that.
A well known fishing lake Simojärvi is only about 10 km away and you can catch, for example, salmon trout from this lake.

During the wintertime there is about 15 km long cross country skiing track. Officially it starts from Piittisjärvi school which is about 1.5 km away from the cottages, but normally there are lots of snow mobile tracks on the lake where it's also good to ski on.

For extra arrangement/cost there is an opportunity for dog sledding/safari.

There is a 9-hole disc gold track in the woods next to the cottages. And next to the track is a campfire spot and toilets.
The track is free to use.

Because of the location of the cottages there is lots of opportunities to make day trips to the surrounding areas.

Auttiköngäs is about 30 km away. Auttiköngäs is a dream-come-true destination for day trip visitors. It is easy to reach and has magnificent landscape. The area's main sight and attraction is the 16-metre-high Auttiköngäs Falls.

Korouoma canyon is about 40 km away. Worth the experience at any time of the year.

Ranuan Zoo is about 55 km away.

Ranuan Hillamarkkinat "Cloudberry Markets" are held yearly at the end of July- beginning of August, all the way from the 70s.
